Red Light Camera Locations in Australia
Browse 380 mapped red light camera records across Australia. Use the national map, compare state coverage and open a state page for road and suburb detail. Cameras installed at intersections to detect vehicles running red lights. Many also detect speeding.
How Red Light Cameras Detect Speed
Red light cameras are triggered by sensors embedded in the road at the stop line. When a vehicle crosses the stop line after the traffic light has turned red, the camera captures two images: one as the vehicle crosses the line and another showing it in the intersection. Many modern red light cameras also function as speed cameras.

Detection Method
Red light cameras typically flash twice — once as you cross the stop line and once when you are in the intersection.

These counts describe records in the dataset, not enforcement frequency. Open an available area page for local roads and map context; every marker remains visible on the national map above.
Red Light Camera Locations by State
Mapped records have coordinates and appear on the map. Approved sites identify roads or suburbs where mobile equipment may operate, but do not show a live deployment.
