How Mobile Speed Cameras Work

Mobile speed cameras are operated from marked or unmarked vehicles, or mounted on tripods beside the road. They use laser (LIDAR) or radar technology to measure vehicle speeds. An operator typically monitors the equipment, though some newer systems are fully automated.
